Foundations in Painting: A 6-Week Journey for Beginners
October 15 ~ November 19, 2025
Wednesday Afternoons: 1pm to 4pm
Join local artists Wendy Marchand and Josephine Vaccaro-Chang for a welcoming, hands-on exploration of painting fundamentals designed for adults who are ready to awaken their inner artist. Over the course of six weeks, this beginner-friendly class introduces the essential building blocks of visual art in a supportive and inspiring environment. Each session dives into a core concept—colour theory, value and contrast, composition, perspective, portraiture, and finishing techniques—guiding participants step-by-step as they build confidence and skills. By the end of each class, you’ll leave with your own completed painting inspired by that week’s focus—ready to take home, frame, or simply admire. Whether you’ve never held a brush or it has been years since you last created, this course is an invitation to learn, play, and grow as an artist. All materials are provided. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Art Slam: True North – Featuring GK Boyter
I’m honoured to have been selected as one of the artists competing in this year’s Art Slam: True North, hosted by Quest Art School + Gallery.
This exhilarating live painting competition brings together a group of talented artists for three rounds of high-energy creativity. In just 30 minutes per round, we transform blank canvases into original works while the audience votes to decide who advances. Music, food, drinks, and a spirited crowd make it an unforgettable night of art and community. This year’s theme, True North, challenges us to interpret Canada’s landscapes, stories, and cultural roots in our own unique way. All artworks will be available for auction, giving you the chance to take home a piece of the evening. I’m thrilled to be part of this celebration of creativity and community. Come cheer us on — and maybe even take home an original GK Boyter artwork!
Tickets are $30 per person and available now at https://questart.ca
