Recognized locally as Wendy Marchand, I am now located in Tiny, Ontario, Canada where I am married, retired and living my best life. In my art practice, I am drawn to feminist issues encompassing themes related to gender equality, women's rights, and social justice. As a visual artist, I have a special interest in photography, painting, sculpture, and printmaking.

  • Letting Go Series

< Back Letting Go Series Learning to let go of what no longer serves me, I explored new mediums in this grief series. The theme of this series reflects on my lengthy career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It is part of both the pride and shame I felt wearing the scarlet tunic and the realization I needed to leave a career that no longer served me to become who I truly was when the uniform was hung up for the last time. Inspired by Frida Kahlo, Pauline Boty, Barbara Kruger and Louis Bourgeois, choosing titles with double entendre meanings I show how coming face to face with my past has allowed me to propel forward without fear of what lies ahead of me. No matter how much I was emasculated, I am still a survivor. I am a woman after all. Series Gallery Previous Next
